We Are Moving The Needle MicroGrants: WildFire Relief Fund
We Are Moving The Needle has launched a new MicroGrants Fund for Wildfire Relief to provide targeted support for producers, engineers and creators affected by the Greater Los Angeles Wildfires. Grants will be available on a sliding scale from $100 to $1,000 based on demonstrated need. Support is aimed at those whose livelihoods and careers have been significantly impacted by loss of a studio, gear, or other critical infrastructure related to your career in audio.
Looking to give to the Wildfire Relief Fund?
Since 2021, We Are Moving The Needle has awarded over $600,000 in scholarships to creators to attend premier audio workshops and programs around the globe. Our MicroGrants Program, launched in September 2024, provides critical supports to close the gap for creators in need and drive meaningful career development through tangible action. This specific round of MicroGrants will provide targeted support to creators affected by the Greater Los Angeles wildfires. Grant decisions will be made on a rolling basis.
💡 What do We Are Moving The Needle’s MicroGrants support?
Possible uses for the Wildfire Relief Fund include (but are not limited to):
Replacement of studio equipment (microphones, headphones, monitors, etc.) due to fire damage, possible opportunities for gear partnerships may be available separate from cash grant, please indicate your needs with your application so we can best pair you with resources;
Studio repair due to fire damage;
Additional supports that impact livelihood for creators in the studio.
Applicants will be asked to provide a clear explanation of the need for grant funds and how this will support your continued work in the field of audio. Applicants are asked to provide a clearly defined set of goals which this funding can tangibly “close the gap” to help make possible.
💡 Who is eligible to receive a We Are Moving The Needle MicroGrant?
In alignment with We Are Moving The Needle’s mission to advance equity in the music industry, this specific MicroGrants initiative will provide targeted support for early and mid-career audio professionals affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
To be eligible, you must be a U.S. citizen or have permanent U.S. residency status.
💡 Are these grants subject to income taxes?
Yes, due to the nature of these MicroGrants all individual awardees will receive a 1099 income form by the end of the tax year.
Applicants should aim to write between 250 and 500 words for each application question.
